Frequently Asked Questions
What types of Medicare plans will Great Lakes Urology accept in 2027?
For 2027, Great Lakes Urology has confirmed participation with traditional (Original) Medicare, Univera Healthcare, and traditional Medicaid. A CoverRight agent can help you understand which options will keep your care at Great Lakes Urology.
Which Medicare Advantage plans are in network so I can continue seeing my Great Lakes Urology providers?

If I am enrolled in a Medicare Supplement Plan, will I be able to continue seeing my providers at Great Lakes Urology?

Getting Started with Medicare Enrollment
When can I enroll in or change my Medicare coverage?
To choose your coverage for 2027, the Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 through December 7, with new coverage starting January 1. If you are new to Medicare, your Initial Enrollment Period is a 7-month window that begins 3 months before the month you turn 65 and ends 3 months after it. If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan, you have another opportunity to make a change from January 1 through March 31. Certain life events, such as retiring past 65, losing employer coverage, or moving, may also qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period.
What is the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage?
Original Medicare (Parts A and B) is federal coverage that lets you see any provider in the country who accepts Medicare. Many people add a standalone Part D plan for prescriptions and a Medigap plan to help with out-of-pocket costs. Medicare Advantage (Part C) is offered by private insurance companies and combines hospital, medical, and usually prescription drug coverage in 1 plan, typically with a provider network. The right choice depends on your Great Lakes Urology providers, prescriptions, and health care needs, and a CoverRight agent can help you compare both side by side.
I am turning 65 or working past 65. What steps should I take?
We recommend starting about 3 months before your 65th birthday so you have time to review your options without pressure. If you plan to keep working, speak with a CoverRight agent before delaying enrollment. Depending on your employer coverage, delaying parts of Medicare may be appropriate, but in some cases it can lead to late-enrollment penalties or gaps in coverage.
What should I bring to my appointment, and how do I contact CoverRight?
Please have your Medicare card, a list of your Great Lakes Urology physicians and advanced practice providers, your current prescriptions, and any questions you would like to discuss. You can reach our dedicated patient support line at (716) 274-6534 (TTY: 711), or book a consultation online at a time that works for you.
About CoverRight and Great Lakes Urology
What is the relationship between CoverRight and Great Lakes Urology?
CoverRight is an independent, licensed Medicare guidance service working with Great Lakes Urology to help patients choose 2027 Medicare coverage that works with their care. Our licensed agents help you compare plans based on your physicians, advanced practice providers, and prescriptions, and support you through enrollment at no cost to you. CoverRight does not provide medical advice or make treatment decisions. Those decisions remain between you and your care team.
What is changing with my practice in 2027?
Beginning in January 2027, your Western New York Urology Associates physicians and advanced practice providers will practice under the name Great Lakes Urology. Your doctors, locations, and care team remain the same. Because of this change, it is important to review your Medicare coverage this fall to make sure your plan works with your care in 2027.
Is CoverRight free, and how is CoverRight paid?
Yes. CoverRight guidance and enrollment support are completely free, and there is never an obligation to enroll. If you choose to enroll in a plan through CoverRight, we are paid directly by the insurance company. This never adds to what you pay for your plan.
What happens when I speak with a CoverRight agent?
You will be connected with a licensed CoverRight agent who takes the time to understand your situation, including your Medicare eligibility, current coverage, physicians and advanced practice providers, prescriptions, and budget. Together, you will compare options that help keep your care at Great Lakes Urology within reach. Family members and caregivers are always welcome to join your appointment.
